ELEVATING R2R24 WITH AN INCREDIBLE GROUP OF WELLNESS, MEDIA & THEATRE ARTISTS

Alex Ivanovici and Brett Watson
Porte Parole Theatre

Day One – Directors of “The Assembly” Theatrical Documentary Presentation

We can’t tell you how excited we are to have Alex and Brett host and direct a theatrical documentary presentation on the Blyth Main Stage. Porte Parole is a theatre company that creates and produces original documentary plays about Canadian contemporary life to inspire diverse audiences to think critically together about current social issues. This documentary presentation is based on a larger series called “The Assembly” produced by Porte Parole which has run in Canada and on the international stage (learn more about Porte Parole’s full production of The Assembly). While we won’t be showcasing the full production at R2R24, we have invited four guests (not actors) with differing points of view to discuss an important rural issue. This documentary theatre will share how we can engage in dialogue while we explore our differences together.

Shauna’s interests lie in the impacts and evolution of movement journalism, solutions journalism and community-based storytelling. She believes in empowering youth to create a seismic shift in what we traditionally have called ‘journalism’ in rural and remote Canada, and in facilitating collective community engagement in that process.

Her podcast and newsletter, ‘Clearing a New Path’ focuses on building a more united, anti-oppressive rural Canada.
